The French company EDERNA has developed a proprietary technology called evapEOs® for the cold concentration of food and biotech liquids. Unlike competing technologies, forward osmosis process uses membranes which offer high levels of retention of sensory profile and functional properties while reducing energy costs. Integrating evapEOs in a process allows ingredient manufacturers to develop new high quality products and cut down their production costs (less energy expenditures/higher production yields) while improving their image to the public because of the eco-friendly reputation of evapEOs. It can be also used as a precursor to drying processes, maintaining quality and reducing operating costs.
