Harry Aiking

After his retirement from VU University in Amsterdam as an Associate Professor in “Chemistry & Food”, Harry Aiking remains affiliated with the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM-VU). There he has been leading dozens of multidisciplinary projects on the interface of natural and social sciences (1980-2014), including the 1999-2005 PROFETAS programme (Protein Foods, Environment, Technology And Society). With a background in biochemistry and microbiology, he worked as a research associate at Indiana University in Bloomington (USA), and as a KWF (Dutch Cancer Fund) Fellow at the Central Blood Bank Laboratory in Amsterdam before he joined IVM-VU. He published circa 380 publications.
